DISSASTER SUPPORT
We have been involved in disaster recovery efforts since before we started our corporation.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, we have a renewed sense of the importance of maintaining community.
We not only remove debris and provide food assistance, but we also use this as a tool to enter the community, face the problems caused by the disaster together, and work together to solve them in whatever way we can.
Noto Earthquakes
(at 2-January, 2024)
Noto
1st Period
(2-Jan. to 5-Jan.)
During the initial response,
we aimed to confirm the route to Okunoto and assess the situation. We also brought portable batteries, portable toilets, and other items that the disaster victims might need, and made individual visits to assess the situation.

2nd Period
(11-Mar. to 15-Mar.)
In the second round (11-15 Mar),
based on the infrastructure situation obtained during the initial response,
the team cooked food for people living in evacuation centers, welfare center, community center and so on in Wajima,
Noto Town and Anamizu.
In between, they also removed collapsed debris and roof tiles.

3rd Period
(21-May. to 26-May.)
In the third round (21-26 May),
we went to Suzu City, which we had not visited before, and carried out restoration work at a Suzu pottery kiln
in Misaki-cho at the tip of the peninsula,
as well as a soup kitchen in the city community based at the Honmachi Station in the city.
Since that time, people have been coming to perform in support of the affected areas,
and during the period there was also a performance of Japanese heritage puppet theatre(Ningyo Joruri)
at the nearby Jokoji Temple, which is gradually giving people more time to a bit relax.

4th Period
(22-July. to 25-July.)
In the fourth round (22-25 Jul.),
support was provided mainly through a soup kitchen in the Kawachi area of Anamizu Town,
which had also been visited in the previous three rounds.
At last, contractors have started coming in to design the foundations for the construction of temporary housing,
but the water supply is still cut off (some parts of the water supply has been restored).
While the construction of temporary housing, restoration of water supply and removal of debris
are progressing simultaneously,
we have been providing support to the exhausted communities
by cooking meals and holding slow conversations
with the villagers in order to relieve their anxiety.

5th Period
(11-November. to 12-November.)
In the fifth period (November 11th to November 12th),
we visited the Kawachi district of Anamizu again
as a pre-research for New Year's Eve support.
Fortunately,
the damage caused by the linear precipitation zone in July
was miraculous and there were no landslide disasters.
The construction of temporary housing is over,
and the meeting place as an evacuation center is closed,
so there are no signs of people.
Demolition of some of the buildings at public expense
was also underway.
The scenery of the village seems to be somewhat lonely,
and there is no bustle in the area when people were crowded into evacuation centers
The quiet of autumn was there...

6th Period
(19-December. to 22-December.)
In the 6th period (December 19th - December 22nd),
As New Year's Eve support, along with support
for New Year decorations and cutting
We have been listening to various stories
from residents of the Kawachi district of Anamizu,
with an emphasis on "coming closer".
"What kind of area was it in the past?"
"How was the industry in the area?"
We have heard various stories,
such as "what did you play with?"
"Of course, there is also a story that says,
"I'm scared because I'm coming for the New Year."
As the demolition of public funds progressed,
there were also stories such as "I'll miss you" as the neighborhood houses disappeared.
In the past, they used to be friends with neighbors,
Now that we have become "temporary residents"
There was also an atmosphere where we were "averse" to each other.
We are not supporting in any way.
In the future,
we will continue to be a "talking partner" in this district.
By listening to various stories,
we will learn about the culture and history of the region.
At the same time as archiving,
we will continue to support the maintenance of the community.

Yamagata Super Heavy Rain
(at 25-July, 2024)
Yamagata
1st Period
(26-Aug. to 1-Sep.)
The first period started on August 26th,
and although the scars of the heavy rain damage remain strong, nature does not wait.
Since it is necessary to quickly harvest the remaining vegetables,
help harvest while removing soil and sand and crushed stones.
First, we went.

2nd Period
(15-Oct. to 21-Oct.)
October is rice harvesting season.
However, even when harvesting rice, it is so messy that you can't put in the machine.
Once again, we have been helping to harvest rice by hand
using many people tactics in front of nature that does not wait.

3rd Period
(18-Nov. to 24-Nov.)
In November,
we received a request from a certain farmer,
and our heavy machinery team played an active role.
In the Kariya district of Sakata City, famous for its pear,
we have been removing mud and soil from pear farmers
with the desire to do something about it before it snows.
However,
it was also found that some trees were sick in the soil
that was already deprived of oxygen,
and the support came from the complicated idea of strong logging.
On the other hand,
they were invited to a disaster support sales event at Akiu Village,
so they were able to connect with farmers in Mamurokawa Town and hold a sales event
on November 23rd, which was a success.

4th Period
(22-Dec. to 27-Dec.)
In December.
In Yamagata Prefecture, which is on the Japan Sea side,
snow has already piled up and become the root snow.
In the midst of all this,
serious discussions have begun in the Sasunabe district of Mamurokawa about future use,
including farmland that could not be restored before the end of the year.
Since some of our members had experience with farmland conversion
and land improvement plots,
we have been consulting with the Board of Agriculture
to provide support for land improvement and diversion.
Discussions will also be held with farmers in the district,
and will be reflected in the plan for the next fiscal year and beyond.
Looking back,
we were left by nature that would not wait until the end of the year,
and was swayed by harvesting anyway,
and when I thought it was finally starting to calm down,
the snow stuck me.
Full-scale restoration work will begin around March and April of 2025.
It will be after the snow melts and we can finally work on the soil.
What kind of support can we provide during the short agricultural season in Tohoku?
We will continue to think together and support.
